BNGAS-- Gas Heater Thermocouple Manufacturer
BNGAS focus on producing high-quality thermocouples for gas fireplace, gas cooker, gas water heaters, and gas boiler. Universal thermocouples and thermocouple kits are also available.
What is the Gas Heater Thermocouple
A thermocouple is an electrical safety device that verifies that the flame of your gas equipment is burning properly, and responds to temperature change by voltage output change.
It is usually used in combination with a pilot burner. If pilot combustion is a necessary safety device in using gas equipment, the thermocouple is the soul of it and it plays a decisive role.

BNGAS® universal gas heater thermocouple fits most pilot burners on 30-millivolt systems. Our gas thermocouple is easy installation and has a long-time service time.
- It works with the pilot burner for use with gas furnaces, boilers, water heaters, and fireplaces.
- The adapter can be easily mounted on most pilot burners, including clamp-in, push-in, and screw-in burners.
- Universal adapter fits clamp-in, push-in, and screw-in-type pilot burners.
- Long-time service time.

Gas Thermocouple: Definition & Uses in Gas Heating Equipment
A thermocouple is a safety device that works by the temperature change of voltage output.
A thermocouple can produce a small voltage output by two different metals or wires forming a measurement junction at the sensor’s tip on the device.
When two different metals are heating, they can be produced an electrical current.
This voltage will let the gas valve close or open or remain open.

Gas Heater Thermocouple Selection & Installation
How to correctly select and install thermocouples is essential to your equipment’s can work stably.
Thermocouples are available in different lengths of connecting copper tubing and are used provided that the thermocouple can be easily made to connect to the gas valve. The thermocouple copper tubing is usually coiled to prevent scratching, kinking, or sharp bending
Troubleshooting Thermocouples
After you have determined that the fault occurred in the Thermocouple, there are generally two most common problems with thermocouples.
- The head of the Thermocouple is not correctly positioned in the flame.
- The Thermocouple’s connecting tube is damaged or excessively twisted.
You can get the Gas Pocket Thermocouple Tester from BNGAS.
- Insert the Thermocouple into the tester.
- Tighten the knurled sleeve until the TC is secured.
- Press and hold the white button apply heat to the TC for 20/30 seconds, then release the button. The button will remain held for approx. 20 seconds if the TC is OK.

A thermopile looks like a thermocouple and is used as a safety device for temperature sensing. It consists of multiple thermocouples connected in series to produce more current than a thermocouple. But unlike thermocouples which require direct contact with the object being monitored, it can be used without touching the object. It is important to note that they are not interchangeable with each other.
- A thermocouple relies on the tip of its sensor to be in direct contact with the object to be measured.
Thermocouple - A thermopile simply absorbs the infrared (IR) rays emitted by the object’s surface to be measured. No direct contact is required. That is why they are generally painted “black”.
